COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Former University of Iowa men’s basketball player Jarrod Uthoff has been named to the 12-player roster for the July 2026 USA Men’s World Cup Qualifying Team.

This will be Uthoff’s first time competing with USA Basketball.

The USA will hold a training camp from June 26-July 1 in Miami before departing for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, for a 7 p.m. game on July 3. The squad will then travel to Zacatecas, Mexico, with for a July 6 game scheduled to tip at 9 p.m.

Uthoff has been playing professionally in Italy since 2024. After going undrafted in 2016, the Cedar Rapids native played 16 career games for the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards in the NBA while also making stints in the G-League before heading overseas.

During his three-year Hawkeye career from 2013-16, Uthoff scored 1,298 points, had 177 blocks and made 137 3-point field goals as a member of three NCAA Tournament teams. He was a consensus second-team All-American as a senior after averaging 18.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.

The USA will compete in six World Cup Qualifying windows from Nov. 2025 to March 2027. In total, 80 national teams will compete for one of 32 berths to the 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Doha, Qatar. In FIBA Americas, 16 teams will play across six windows with seven advancing to the World Cup.

Through two windows, the USA is 3-1 and sits atop Group A, along with the Dominican Republic (3-1), with seven points. Nations will be regrouped for Windows 4-6, with Window 4 — in which the U.S. will play one road game and one home game — scheduled for the end of August.

The United States is the winners of two of the last four FIBA World Cups in 2010 and 2014.
