ISU women’s wrestling roster adds 4

AMES — The Iowa State women’s wrestling roster has expanded to 16 with the addition of four transfers over the last week, head coach Alli St. John announced.

Thirteen of Iowa State’s 16 wrestlers have arrived in Ames via transfer portal, including the most recent four additions.

Anaya Falcon, a 110-pound transfer from Life University, is the Cyclones’ most recent recruit. Falcon was a standout in her freshman season with the Running Eagles, going 31-1 in suffering her only loss in the NAIA championship match.

Falcon was the Mid-South Conference champion and also the league’s Wrestler of the Year as a true freshman from Walnut High School in Yorba Linda, Calif., where she was 119-0 with four state titles. She helped lead Walnut to its first state title in 2024 and was rated as the country’s No. 11 recruit by FloWrestling.

Falcon was a 2024 U20 World Team member and placed seventh at the U20 championships.

The Cyclones also added an Oklahoma State transfer in Kailey Benson, a 131-pound sophomore from Saint Peters, Mo. Benson went 22-6 in her first season with the Cowgirls after posting a 162-13 prep record at Francis Howell Central. She was a two-time state champion in Missouri, a three-time Junior Nationals Fargo All-American, a U20 Women’s National finalist, and a 2026 Pan Am team member.

Two more William Penn University transfers joined ISU as well with the addition of Tatiana Paragas and Avy Perez. That makes five former Statesmen to follow coaches Jake Kadel and Cash Wilcke to be a part of the Cyclones’ introductory program.

Paragas, from Honolulu, went 31-12 at 124 pounds in her freshman campaign at William Penn. She competed a the 2026 World Team Trials, and in high school went 94-18 with two runner-up results and a third-place finish.

Perez, from Mission Hills, Calif., was an NAIA All-American at William Penn after going 19-11 and finishing seventh at nationals at 110 pounds. In high school, Perez finished 161-25 and was a two-time Junior Nationals Fargo All-American.

Starting at $4.75/week.
