OTTUMWA -- The Marshalltown boys' golf team got a break from invitational play to start the fall campaign and came away with a dual meet win over Ottumwa on Thursday.
The Bobcats beat the host Bulldogs 321-340 at Ottumwa Golf and Social Club, shooting right around their season average to take the Iowa Alliance Conference dual.
MHS junior Joe Greazel got medalist honors with his even-par round of 72, scoring four birdies to match four bogeys on his card. The rest were pars for the Bobcats' leading scorer, who had a four-stroke cushion on the rest of the field.
Ottumwa's Tate Harness finished in with a 4-over 76 for runner-up medalist honors, while MHS junior Gavin Misek was third in the meet with his 78.
Bryson Payne picked up fourth place in the meet for MHS with his 84, and Jacob Seberger contributed the final counting score for the Bobcats with an 87.
Parker Christen carded an 89 and Isaac Anderson added a 92 for Marshalltown.
The Bobcats return to the links on Wednesday for the 11-team Ankeny Hawks Invitational on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Otter Creek Golf Course.
