West Marshall's place among the best in Class 2A baseball has been solidified by Beckham DeSotel.
For the third year in a row, coaches across the state have taken notice.
DeSotel was named to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association's all-state teams for the third-straight summer, earning third-team honors in 2A after another stellar season on the diamond.
DeSotel was a third-team selection as an eighth-grader, a second-teamer as a sophomore and returned to third-team honors in his junior campaign. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound righthander still has one season to go, too.
In 2026, DeSotel shared the 2A lead in doubles during another standout season both at the plate and on the mound for West Marshall (19-13).
DeSotel was one of three local players honored with all-district selection as well, joined by teammate Evan Siegert and BCLUW's Daniel Zoske.
DeSotel was a first-team all-Central District honoree for the third year in a row, while Siegert, a senior infielder, made his all-district debut on the second team.
Zoske was named to the 1A Central District first team for the second season in a row for a BCLUW team that went 3-15 on the year.
DeSotel batted .432 with 15 doubles, six home runs, 40 RBIs and a .554 on-base percentage to lead West Marshall in each category. He scored 30 runs, totaled a team-high 41 hits and finished with a .779 slugging percentage to captain the Trojans' offense.
He ranked sixth in 2A in home runs, 11th in RBIs and seventh in total bases (74).
On the mound, DeSotel finished with a 4-4 record, racking up 76 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings pitched. He totaled a 2.48 earned run average and a 1.12 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched), earning wins over Heart of Iowa Conference foes Grand View Christian, Nevada and South Hamilton as well as a district semifinal victory against South Hardin.
DeSotel ranked 16th in 2A in strikeouts and 14th in innings pitched.
Siegert finished his senior season with a .323 batting average, eight doubles, one triple, one home run and 20 RBIs. He ranked 21st in 2A with a team-leading 37 runs scored, had a .468 on-base percentage and was 17-for-17 in stolen bases.
Zoske was the top two-way player for BCLUW, hitting .390 with three doubles, one home run and 19 RBIs. He scored 10 runs, had a .536 on-base percentage and finished his senior campaign with a .962 fielding percentage while also throwing out 11-of-34 attempted base-stealers when playing catcher.
On the mound, Zoske led the Comets with 25 1/3 innings pitched, going 0-4 with a 4.14 ERA and 29 strikeouts.
Cal Jepsen of Sioux City East was named the captain of the all-state Super Team. Class captains were George Blake of Indianola (4A), Nolan Dittmer of Davenport Assumption (3A), Judd Jirovsky of Grundy Center and JJ Phillips of Pleasantville (2A), and Cal Heydon of Coon Rapids-Bayard (1A).
