Marshalltown Community College has announced the signing of McKenna Salvador to join the Tigers' bowling program for its inaugural 2026-27 season.
One of the premier high school bowlers in Iowa, Salvador arrives at Marshalltown following an outstanding career at Pella High School, where she established herself as one of the most accomplished bowlers in program history. She led the Dutch in scoring average during both her junior and senior seasons and finished her senior campaign with a 153 average, the second-highest single-season average in Pella girls bowling history.
Salvador's senior season was highlighted by several impressive accomplishments. She led the Little Hawkeye Conference in total pins, earned second-team All-Little Hawkeye Conference honors, and was recognized as one of the Top-100 girls bowling recruits in Iowa. Her consistent performance and ability to compete at a high level made her one of the state's top collegiate bowling prospects.
Her name is featured throughout the Pella girls bowling record book. Salvador recorded a 385 series, which ranks as the second-highest series in program history, while also holding the third- and fifth-highest series marks. She also posted individual games of 214 and 212, ranking as the third- and fifth-highest games ever achieved at Pella.
Having bowled for only five years, Salvador has developed into one of Iowa's top young bowlers through dedication, hard work, and a commitment to improving every season. Her bowling journey began with the guidance of her grandfather, who introduced her to the sport and served as her coach.
"McKenna is exactly the type of student-athlete we want to bring into our program," said MCC head coach Nate Clark. "I first heard about her from a coach whose opinion I trust, and after learning more about her, it was easy to see why she came so highly recommended. Her accomplishments on the lanes are impressive, but what stood out most was her attitude, character, and the way she carries herself."
Clark believes Salvador's leadership qualities will make an immediate impact on the Tigers program.
"McKenna has the ability to step into a leadership role within our team," Clark said. "She is competitive, coachable, and willing to put in the work necessary to continue improving. Those qualities will help her succeed at the collegiate level and make a positive impact on our team culture."
Outside of bowling, Salvador is actively involved in 4-H, where she raises and shows rabbits. Her dedication and hard work were recognized this year when one of her rabbits earned Reserve Grand Champion honors at her county fair. Her commitment and responsibility away from the lanes reflect the same qualities that have helped her succeed as a student-athlete.
Salvador plans to pursue a degree in business while attending MCC.
"We are excited to welcome McKenna and her family to the Tiger family," Clark said. "She has already accomplished a lot in a short amount of time, and we believe her best bowling is still ahead of her. We are looking forward to helping her continue to grow as a bowler, a student, and a leader."
The addition of Salvador continues the momentum of the MCC bowling program as the Tigers bring in talented student-athletes who excel both competitively and academically. Her combination of skill, character, and leadership makes her a valuable addition to the future of Marshalltown bowling.
