WATERLOO -- The Marshalltown boys' golf team moved to 5-0 in Iowa Alliance Conference play with a victory at a triangular hosted Wednesday by Waterloo East.
The Bobcats edged out Des Moines Roosevelt, 158-160, to claim the nine-hole meet, while Waterloo East failed to field a full team.
MHS junior Joe Greazel got medalist honors for his even-par round of 36, and Korben McKibben contributed a runner-up round of 38 to lead the Bobcats.
"Joe Greazel continues to give us stellar play at the top of the lineup," said MHS head coach Lucas Johnson. "The story of the night was Korben McKibben shooting his career-low with a score that proved to be the decider in the team race as players were coming in. We were without our No. 2 golfer Gavin Misek, who was under the weather, so it's a great thing to see players step up when needed."
The Bobcats also got counting scores of 42 from seniors Parker Christen and Jacob Seberger. Bryson Payne posted a 43 and Oliver Young finished out with a 44.
Roosevelt got matching 39s from Marcus Clutter and Henry Locher.
Marshalltown returns to action on Monday with the Turk Bowman Invite hosted by Ames at Veenker Memorial Golf Course.
