’Cats claw out win over Riverhawks

MASON CITY -- The Marshalltown boys' golf team improved to 2-0 in Iowa Alliance Conference dual meets this season, scratching out a 155-158 win over Mason City on Thursday at Highland Park Golf Course.

The Bobcats were led by medalist Joe Greazel, who had a pair of birdies on his way to an even-par round of 36 to lead the field. Senior Jacob Seberger got into the mix with his 38, finishing third overall, while Gavin Misek (40) and Parker Christen (41) completed Marshalltown's scoring in their first nine-hole meet of the season.

Bryson Payne (43) and Isaac Anderson (44) were right there in the hunt for MHS, which also claimed the junior varsity dual 182-202 over the host Riverhawks. Korben McKibben earned JV medalist honors with his 41, while Oliver Young and Aiden Holmgren (44) tied for the next best score.

Marshalltown plays its home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 8, with a 3:30 p.m. dual against Fort Dodge at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course.
