Greazel goes low for ’Cats at Ankeny Hawks Invite

ANKENY -- The Marshalltown boys' golf team returned from a two-week hiatus to shoot its season-low score, finishing sixth at the Ankeny Hawks Invitational on Wednesday at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Bobcat junior Joe Greazel carded a 2-under-par round of 69 to bring home a bronze medal. Dallas Center-Grimes, which won with a 277 team score, was led by medalist Chase Perrin's 66 and runner-up Avery Van Zelderen's 69.

MHS senior Parker Christen picked up a top-20 finish with his round of 4-over 75, while Bryson Payne (79) and Gavin Misek (87) also contributed to the team scoring. Jacob Seberger (89) and Isaac Anderson (91) competed as well for the Bobcats.

Host Ankeny also shot a 310 but took fifth place ahead of Marshalltown thanks to the fifth-score tiebreaker. Southeast Polk was second with a 288, followed by Ankeny Centennial (294) and Dowling Catholic (296) in the 11-team tournament.
