Medalwinners lift MHS boys to sixth at Southeast Polk

PLEASANT HILL -- The Marshalltown boys' golf team played its third meet in a span of six days, securing sixth place out of 11 teams at the Southeast Polk Invitational on Wednesday at Copper Creek Golf Club.
Joe Greazel shot an even-par 36 on the back nine en route to a 7-over-par round of 78, good for 14th place, and fellow junior Gavin Misek carded a 1-over 36 on the front to shoot a 78 that earned him 15th individually.
Marshalltown finished in with a 327 team total that was just four strokes ahead of Ankeny (331) and three shots back of Ankeny Centennial (324). Norwalk won the team title with a 302, followed closely by host Southeast Polk (304) and Dowling Catholic (306). Indianola was fourth with a 315.
Dowling's Elijah Anderson was the meet medalist after a cardback broke a three-way tie for the lowest score of 1-over 72 ahead of Southeast Polk's Carter Mulcahy and Norwalk's Tillman Papcun.
Marshalltown also got scoring rounds of 85 from senior Parker Christen and 86 from junior Bryson Payne. Korben McKibben finished in at 88, and Jacob Seberger shot 93 for the Bobcats.
MHS has passed on the rescheduling of the Turk Bowman Invite hosted annually by Ames in favor of playing a dual meet against Norwalk on Tuesday at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora. The Bobcats' district meet is at Lake Panorama as well on Oct. 5.
