STATE CENTER -- The West Marshall football team used a 21-point second quarter to break away from a tie game for a 28-7 triumph over Ogden in Friday's Class 1A District 7 opener for both teams.
The Trojans (2-2, 1-0) rushed for 293 of their 351 yards of total offense. Quarterback Blayk Hart had 29 carries for 142 yards and three touchdowns, while Joe Kielman collected 1215 yards and one TD on 13 carries.
Hart was also 5-of-8 passing for 58 yards with an interception, with Teegun Edler making two grabs for 29 yards.
Dalton Eldridge led the Trojan defense with seven tackles and Connor Yakel had six stops. Edler and Drake Whitaker both picked off an Ogden pass as well.
The Bulldogs (1-3, 0-1) gained most of their 278 yards through the air, with quarterback Carson Lloyd going 16-for-31 for 161 yards. Tyler Lass had seven catches for 77 yards, and Ogden's lone touchdown came on a 69-yard run by Jackson Klith.
Rebels rough up GMG
GARWIN -- The Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team scored three touchdowns in each of the first three quarters of a 72-0 shutout of GMG in Friday's 8-Man District 6 showdown.
The Rebels (4-0, 3-0) averaged 16.1 yards per play in the wire-to-wire win, racking up 530 yards of total offense. Treyvon Herron led G-R's rushing attack with eight carries for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Chad Gutknecht added 63 yards and two touchdown runs, Brayton Dripps went 61 yards for a score on his only carry, and quarterback Bennett Sieh added a rushing TD.
Sieh was 8-for-9 passing for 172 yards and two scores as well, connecting with Herron for a 30-yard touchdown and Brayden Utter for a 1-yard TD.
Kooper had an interception and a fumble recovery for the G-R defense, which allowed just 36 yards of offense for GMG.
The Wolverines (3-2, 0-2) completed 7-of-14 passes for 37 yards and finished with minus-1 yards rushing. Jacoby Woodbury had four receptions for 16 yards and one carry for eight yards, while Dustin Miller had two catches for 13 yards and one rush for 10 yards.
Ethan Klemesrud, the state's leading tackler, had 8.5 stops to lead the GMG defense.
Eagles run past BCLUW
CONRAD -- West Hancock kept the BCLUW football team off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter of Friday's 34-14 Eagles win over the host Comets in Class A District 2 action.
West Hancock (3-1, 2-1) rushed for 399 of its 408 yards of offense. Nathan Bixel carried 28 times for 140 yards and four touchdowns, and Kipton Youngwirth had 18 totes for 135 yards and another score.
BCLUW (1-3, 1-2) got 122 yards through the air, with Elliot McIntyre going 15-for-28 for 122 yards and a touchdown. He hooked up with Tommy Miller six times for 61 yards and a touchdown, while Avery Schipper had four grabs for 32 yards.
Eathan Petermeier finished with 103 yards from scrimmage, rushing 14 times for 79 yards to go with four catches for 24 yards. Maddin Helms had a short touchdown run for the Comets' other score.
Schipper led the BCLUW defense with 11.5 tackles, including one for loss, and Beau Towne had 10.5 stops. Patrick McCready added nine tackles, Ethan Shadlow had 8.5 stops, and Jordan Schlumeister recovered a fumble for the game's only turnover.
