PLEASANTVILLE -- The West Marshall football team held off Pleasantville's comeback for a 45-42 triumph in Friday's Class 1A District 7 slugfest.
Quarterback Blayk Hart ran for 218 yards and four touchdowns and threw a 61-yard touchdown to Wilson Buckley to help the visiting Trojans (3-2, 2-0) outlast the hometown Trojans (3-2, 0-2).
Teegun Edler had a 99-yard kickoff return for touchdown and Buckley made a 22-yard field goal as West Marshall remained in a tie atop the district standings.
Hart was 6-for-12 passing for 112 yards with an interception, while Joe Kielman rushed eight times for 101 yards as West Marshall piled up 453 yards of total offense.
Kielman and Dalton Eldridge led the defense with seven tackles apiece, and Eldridge had an interception as well.
Pleasantville threw for 327 of its 444 yards of offense, with Braylon Bingham going 20-for-37 with two touchdowns. Brayden Kennedy had seven catches for 156 yards, while JJ Phillips rushed eight times for 95 yards and three scores. Nolan Fichter returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown for the host Trojans.
Comets fall to Broncos
BELMOND -- Belmond-Klemme used a big second half to put away the BCLUW football team on Friday night, winning 37-14 over the Comets in a Class A District 2 contest.
The host Broncos (3-2, 3-1) outscored the Comets 29-6 in the second half, highlighted by a three-touchdown fourth quarter.
Jaime Steffenson ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns and also threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Saul Duran to lead Belmond-Klemme to victory. Wyatt Buseman returned an interception 55 yards for another score.
BCLUW (1-4, 1-3) was limited to 181 yards of total offense in the loss. Eathan Petermeier rushed 10 times for 65 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Elliot McIntyre had eight carries for 54 yards and another score. McIntyre went 7-for-15 passing for 55 yards with an interception. Petermeier was the leading receiver with three grabs for 29 yards.
Defensively, Beau Towne led the Comets with 7.5 tackles, while Aaron Pencil and Will Feldpausch had seven stops apiece. Patrick McCready added six tackles.
