PERRY -- Dalaney Eldridge claimed her second Heart of Iowa Conference cross country championship as the Class 2A No. 2 West Marshall girls' cross country squad successfully defended its HOIAC crown on Monday at Perry High School.

The Trojans totaled just 23 points to pace the eight-team field as Eldridge claimed her second conference title. She won the meet as a freshman, took sixth last season, and returned to the top of the heap on Monday with a winning time of 20 minutes, 5 seconds.

All five of West Marshall's scoring runners finished in the top seven, as Kielly Kasal, Harper Blackburn, Zoey Wignall and Ella Randall placed 4-7 between 20:26 and 20:39.

PCM, ranked 13th in 2A, was the runner-up with 63 points, followed by Roland-Story at 85.

The West Marshall boys were one runner short of scoring as a team. Aaron Greene led the Trojans with a 20th-place finish in 18:33. Noah Ethington (94th, 23:18), Korey Malloy (119th, 25:18) and Russell Mack (140th, 33:58) also competed for the Trojans.

Unranked Nevada scored 44 points to knock off No. 13 PCM (64) atop the boys' standings. Grand View Christian (112) won a tight race for third.
