IOWA CITY -- University of Iowa third-year tight end DJ Vonnahme was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week, the association announced Tuesday.

Vonnahme and the Hawkeyes cruised to a 30-0 victory over No. 25 Wisconsin last Saturday, marking Iowa's fifth consecutive win over the Badgers.

Vonnahme recorded five receptions for 54 yards and a 4-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. He also added a 2-yard rushing score in the third quarter for his first career touchdown on the ground. The rushing score was the first by a Hawkeye tight end since T.J. Hockenson accomplished the feat at Minnesota in 2018.

A native of Breda, Iowa, Vonnahme has tallied three touchdown receptions and four total touchdowns over his last three games.

Established in 2000, the John Mackey Award annually recognizes the most outstanding collegiate tight end while preserving the legacy of Pro Football Hall of Famer John Mackey, one of the most influential players to ever play the position.

The No. 21 Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2) return to action Saturday, traveling to face Northwestern (6-2, 3-2).
