Marshalltown American Legion collecting items for homeless vets

TIMES-REPUBLICAN

Several American Legion Post 46 members are volunteering again this year at the Homeless Veterans Stand Down in Des Moines, slated for Sept. 15-17. This event relies on volunteers and donations.

Marshalltown American Legion Commander Randy Kessler is asking the public for donations of good kids clothes of all sizes, either gender, and adult hoodies of all sizes although there is a greater need for sizes XL and larger.

Other popular items are hygiene items for both men and women, and laundry soap. Jumbo economy sizes are discouraged. Other donations could include healthy non-perishable snack or food items like granola bars or protein bars.

Those who would like to donate any of these items may place them in the toy donation box in the west entryway at Marshalltown’s Frank Lewis Glick American Legion Post 46, 1301 S. 6th. St. Volunteers will take the items down just prior to the event.
