Man charged with forging stolen checks
A theft of two stolen payroll checks last year from the local Hoglund Bus Co., later altered and cashed, resulted in the arrest of a Nebraska man, said Capt. Brian Batterson of the Marshalltown Police Department.
Rafael Ramirez-Cardenas, 28, was arrested at the Marshall County Courthouse earlier this week by MPD and charged with forgery — a Class D felony. Cardenas also faces charge of theft-third degree, theft-second degree, and theft in fifth degree.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1.p.m on Feb. 9 in Marshall County District Court. He is being held in the Marshall County Jail on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
