A Marshalltown man was arrested by Marshalltown police Thursday for sex offender registration – second or subsequent offense stemming from an incident last year.

Vann Joe Griffith, 57, escaped from a local residential correctional facility in August 2018. He was in violation of Sexual Offender Registry Requirements for failure to notify authorities of his current address, Capt. Brian Batterson of the Marshalltown Police Department said. Failure to comply is a Class D felony.

A criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court showed Griffith with two prior convictions for sex offender registry violations. The defendant is being held in Marshall County Jail without bond and his arraignment is Feb. 19.
