The Marshalltown Police Department received a report of an unattended death at a private business Sunday morning.

Ginger N. Carter, 39, of Marshalltown has been identified as the deceased, according to Marshalltown Police.

“The cause and manner of this death have not yet been determined and an investigation is ongoing,” Police Chief Mike Tupper said in an email. “An autopsy has been scheduled for Feb. 11. There are no public safety threats associated with this investigation.”

Carter was found inside Suite #6, Center Cuts & More at 19 S. Center St. She worked at the business.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased, adult female, Tupper said in an earlier email.

The Marshall County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab and the Marshall County Medical Examiner are assisting the Marshalltown Police Department with this investigation.
