Gustafson wins Big Ten Player of the Week again

ROSEMONT, Ill. — For the sixth time this season, University of Iowa senior Megan Gustafson has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week, the 16th weekly honor of her career.

Gustafson scored a season-high 44 points on 17-for-24 shooting from the field to lead the No. 16 Hawkeyes to a 91-82 victory over Drake on Friday. She pulled down 14 rebounds to register her NCAA-leading 10th double-double of the season as well.

Gustafson has 2,094 career points for Iowa, and she needs nine points to become the Hawkeyes’ all-time leading scorer. Ally Disterhoft holds the record of 2,102 points, and Gustafson became the Hawkeyes’ leading rebounder on Dec. 5. She currently has 1,116 career boards.

Iowa returns to action on Sunday with a game at Michigan State, starting at noon. The game from East Lansing, Mich., will be broadcast on ESPN2.
