The Homeless Task Force needs help now

The Homeless Task Force has arranged for a few “Warming Centers” and some spots for overnight sleeping for Marshalltown and Marshall County’s homeless population. Volunteer monitors have been working for the past couple of weeks. They are getting burned out and could use a break. We need people to volunteer to be monitors of these centers. Open letter to the Tama County Board of Supervisors

As a new Board that will be installed into office January 1, 2025, we would request the current Board to refrain from appointing new members to the zoning board of adjustment to replace Todd Sebesta and Kurt Kelley and any further appointments. Todd resigned in mid-November 2024. Kurt resigned sometime in the last week. With only two and a half weeks left in your term, any business by the zoning board of adjustment can be addressed by the current members. Easement and right of way

I was told in no uncertain terms that because May St. is platted at 66 feet wide myself and the other homeowners on May Street do not own the size of land shown on our deeds. It is more than an easement to access the property; it is actually city property. That means several homes on the street essentially have minute front yards. We maintain our entire properties and pay taxes on them, but our deeds are not correct. Aerials of our property and assessors’ print outs show it is our property but it is not. I don’t understand why so many are surprised and appalled at the election results. Ever since the insidious scheme of Corporate Capitalism was concocted, the highest goals embedded into the system have always been for individuals to acquire great wealth, power, and unobstructed control, this regardless of harm to other individuals, to other groups, or to other species. Trump and Musk simply represent the apex of those goals. Both are truly the highest epitome of Corporate Capitalists. What we have is a monumental victory at last for Corporate Capitalism.

Worden salad

The latest Worden salad litany is a Who’s Who of the Marshalltown citizens who are responsible for most of the intellectual fiber of the community. Little Johnnie hates most of them and accuses them of yelling at or ignoring him, from the mayor, the city council, the library board to the public servants.
