NEWTON — Newton scored three goals in the second half to rally past the Marshalltown girls’ soccer team in Thursday’s season-opening match for 3-2 victory at H.A. Lynn Stadium. Aliviah Ross scored two goals and Adalynn Groves got another for the host Cardinals, who outshot the Bobcats 14-6 on the night. For the third time in program history, and second-straight season, Iowa State will play a men’s basketball game at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa football team will hold an open practice on Saturday, April 25, inside Kinnick Stadium. The open practice will conclude Iowa’s spring drills and is free to attend. Gates to Kinnick Stadium will open at 9:45 a.m. with practice scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. Regular season game-day search procedures will be in place and fans will be allowed to sit in the south and west stands.
