CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Honored for 50 years of membership in P.E.O. International, Bonnie Herbold was celebrated by Chapter JU-LT at its recent meeting. Co-President Ann Isgrig presented Herbold with a 50-year pin and a bouquet of marguerites, the organization’s flower.
During the monthly meeting of P.E.O. Chapter JU-LT members shared words of affirmation, “You are truly a sister,” as Bonnie Herbold was honored for 50 years of P.E.O. membership. Originally initiated into Chapter BA of Colfax, Iowa in 1975, Herbold then moved to Marshalltown and transferred to Chapter JU. She served her chapters as Vice President, Guard, Chaplain, Delegate to the State Convention, Initiation Team and Founder’s Day program.
While in keeping with the chapter’s theme, “Just Us Ladies Together,” members held the inaugural “Family Meeting” to discuss the state of its first year as a merged chapter. Co-President Sharon Jensen led the productive and forward-looking discussion.
A silent auction was also held in support of Cottey College and the commitment to the projects of P.E.O. which provide grants, scholarships, awards and loans for higher education for women.
Refreshments were served by Margaret Johnson, Sheryl Thomas and Nancy Peterson.
The next meeting will be the P.E.O. Reciprocity Tea and Social to be held Dec. 8, and will feature a performance of Tuesday Musical to be directed by Deb Nuss.
