• Alexandrea Curry, 21, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and a possession of marijuana-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Curry is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Andrew Dennis, 28, made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Dennis is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Victor Puckett, 22, made and initial appearance on a warrant charging him with two counts of child endangerment-controlled substance exposure, a possession of a controlled substance-second offense and a possession of drug paraphernalia. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Puckett was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

Puckett also made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The public defender’s office has been appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Joleen Quigley, 55, made an initial appearance on a warrant charging her with possession of drug paraphernalia, a possession of methamphetamine-first offense and a keeping a premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Quigley is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Justin Chandonia, 33, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and the jury trial is rescheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 13. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Arrests

• On Monday, Victor Puckett, 22, was arrested for violation of probation.

• On Monday, Justin Chandonia, 33, was arrested for failure to appear at a pre-trial conference on a possession of methamphetamine-first offense.

Accidents

• On Nov. 2, a car driven by Priscilla Cann, 21, of Johnston, was westbound on Highway 30 when the driver fell asleep at the wheel resulting in the car drifting onto the shoulder and awakening Cann at which time she overcorrected and entered the north ditch, flipped and came to rest on its wheels. No injuries were reported. Cann was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Cann car was estimated at $6,000.

• On Nov. 2, a car driven by Gaylen Rodger Burke, 78, of Liscomb, was eastbound on Iowa Avenue when it collided with the passenger side rear of a minivan driven by Nicki C. Johnson, 69, of Omaha, Neb., as she was attempting a left turn. No injuries were reported. Burke was cited for passing contrary to highway signs or marking. Damage to the Burke car was estimated at $3,500 while the Johnson minivan received an estimated $2,000 in damage.• On Nov. 9, a pickup driven by Roberto Ladislao Gomez, 38, of Pasadena, Calif., was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gomez pickup was estimated at $1,700.

• On Nov. 6, a car driven by Tatum Blu Uetz, 38, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Iowa Avenue West when it struck deer that jumped onto the roadway from the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Uetz car was estimated at $3,000.

• On Nov. 6, a car driven by Isaiah Paul Peterson, 30, of Urbandale, was southbound on Marsh Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Peterson car was estimated at $5,000.
