Court — Wednesday

• Katie Marianne Warnell made an initial appearance on a perjury charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 23. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Adrian Alejandro Alcaraz Garcia made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, an open container charge and a failure to obey a traffic control device charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 3. Alcaraz Garcia is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Tracy Louise Salyers made an initial appearance through on a domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness charge. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 3. Salyers is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jerry Lee Bosely made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. Bosely pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Krystian William Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Court Judge and the Department of Correctional Services. Gonzalez is being held without bond.

• Juan Martin Garcia Alcaraz made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Garcia Alcaraz is released on his promise to appear.

• Dianna Fernanda Murillo made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a no insurance charge, a dark windows charge and two counts of a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 3. Murillo is released on her promise to appear.

• Zachary Steven Bolar failed to appear for an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Tavian Lawrence Hicks failed to appear for an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Monday, Krystian William Gonzalez, 25, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense.

• On Monday, Mufalme Christopher Museveni, 32, was arrested for driving while barred.

Accidents

• On July 31, a pickup driven by Jose William Navarrete Umana, 63, of Marshalltown, was southbound over the Third Avenue viaduct when his brakes failed resulting in the pickup hitting the concrete wall then crossing lanes while the driver jumped out as the pickup struck the east concrete wall where it stopped. Navarrete Umana was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown to be checked out. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $1,000.

• On Aug. 7, a car driven by Joseph Donald McMillen, 30, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck an animal that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the McMillen car was estimated at $3,000.

• On Aug. 7, a Jeep Cherokee parked on East Lincoln Street received hit and run damage estimated at $1,500.

• On Aug. 8, a pickup driven by David J. Grimes, 44, of McCallsburg, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Grimes pickup was estimated at $10,000.

• On Aug. 8, a vehicle driven by Wayne Eugene Gribbins, 52, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South First Street when the driver dropped his pop and lost control of the vehicle while attempting to reach the pop and struck a legally parked Chevy Equinox moving it 10 feet from where it was parked. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.

• On Sunday, a pickup driven by Garrett Lee Kaufman, 23, of Albion, was northbound on South Center Street when the driver fell asleep at the wheel and rear ended a pickup driven by Bruce William Rhodes, 51, of Haverhill. No injuries were reported. Kaufman was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $4,000 each.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Amber Marie Maxfield, 26, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Second Street stopped at the intersection with Iowa Avenue West when she pulled onto Iowa Avenue West into the path of a car driven by Debra Jean Irwin, 52, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Maxfield was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Maxfield vehicle was estimated at $7,000 while the Irwin car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Monday, a car driven by Terrell Scott Boyle, 22, of Ankeny, was southbound on Eighth Avenue stopped at the intersection with Main Street before pulling into traffic and colliding with a car driven by Caroline Jean Clayton, 57, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Boyle was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.

• On Monday, a car driven by Sarah Lynn Butcher, 26, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Third Street when it struck two legally parked vehicles, a pickup and a Honda and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Butcher was located and cited for leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only, striking unattended vehicles, no insurance-accident and operating while under the influence-first offense. Damage to the Butcher car was estimated at $12,000 while the pickup received an estimated $2,000 in damage and the Honda an estimated $8,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a theft of motor vehicle parts was reported in the 10 block of East Webster Street.

• On Tuesday, Jerry Bosely, 41, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
