Lawn Doctor eager to serve Marshalltown area and more
Many central Iowans forget about their lawns after the last bag of leaves is filled or the when the first snowflakes fly.
But not the Todd Narber family of Fort Dodge.
They are committed to serving central Iowans and making sure customer’s lawns look great regardless of season.
Todd and his wife Holly are the owner-operators of the Lawn Doctor franchise, with children Jordan and Chloee active in the business too.
“We are a family-owned, family-run business,” said Todd.
Eight employees help the Narber family take care of business.
The Narbers took over the Ankeny-Altoona-Marshalltown franchise July 1, and melded that into their ownership of two other Lawn Doctor franchisees: the Ames-Fort Dodge and Urbandale-West Des Moines.
Fort Dodge is headquarters, with depots in Fort Dodge and Marshalltown.
With the growing season over, Todd said family and staff are now working to apply the sixth, and final step of the company’s famed six-step maintenance program to customer’s lawns.
And the Narbers are offering a lawnmower maintenance and storage program, so that customers can get off to a great start with their lawns next season.
“Anyone who has a push lawnmower, or rider lawnmower that needs general maintenance, please contact us,” he said. “We sharpen blades, clean the motor deck, change oil and spark plugs.”
Todd acknowledged there are a number of lawn care competitors, but said Lawn Doctor model stands out because it focuses specifically on the health of the lawn.
“We are not in the lawn mowing, tree-trimming or snow removal business,” he said. “Our focus is strictly on the health of the lawn. We want to provide our customers with the absolute best products we can find for our region. We use patented equipment that is ground-metered, meaning when our equipment is traveling across the lawn, it is applying the proper fertilization and weed control at any speed we are traveling.”
Todd said the company focuses on providing as much information as possible, so customers can make the best decisions.
Importantly, the Narbers will work with the customer to develop a custom-made program.
“Our whole mission is to make sure that if you have a 40-year lawn or a new lawn … we are able to meet your needs individually,” he said. “We are not a universal, ‘this is what we do for every lawn.’
Todd also emphasized that their company provides comprehensive care.
“A home owner might put down fertilizer twice a year and think that is pretty good … it is pretty good, but it is all time-released and has a life span. If you are not a program, which is a pre-emergent, a preventative for grubs, and checking pH levels to make sure your soil and the roots can absorb as much fertilizer as you are giving it … there are just many, many things that have to be done. Our lawn service is done right the first time, and we have guaranteed results.”
The company offers different payment plans and are available for work or consultation 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday-Friday. Lawn Doctor will do a free- of-charge on-site evaluation as well. For more information contact 515-302-8463, or visit lawndoctorames-wesdesmoines.com.
