Roundhouse on clearance
This weekend, Bobcat fans are to have another chance to bring a piece of the Marshalltown High School Roundhouse gymnasium home.
A “Renovate the Roundhouse” fundraising committee is hosting a yard sale Sunday, in Marshalltown.
On sale, from 2-4 p.m., will be pieces of the facility – flooring, bleacher seat boards and lockers – that were salvaged before it was renovated.
The items are selling on clearance, said committee member Peggy Hannam.
“There is numbered wood, bleacher seats, foot boards that are plain, and flooring – some with lines in it,” she said.
The sale is to take place at 811 E. Main St.
Flooring (4 feet by 4 feet) will be sold for $50 each and bleacher seat boards, at $10 per linear foot.
The dollars raised are to support the second phase of Roundhouse construction, which includes the erection of a new building to house an auxiliary gym and wrestling room. It will take $3.85 million to finance the project.
Since the 2013 groundbreaking, the more than $9 million Roundhouse project included interior renovation and exterior wing construction.
The Marshalltown School Board approved the substantial completion of many punch list items from the first construction phase in August.
A public open house was held later that month.
