Whether it was automatic or by hand, Marshalltown residents were lined up to clean the salt, sand and muck off their vehicles at local car wash facilities. Frigid temperatures over the past several days prevented most drivers from keeping their vehicles clean. But above-freezing temperatures on Thursday prompted many car and truck owners to wash away the effects of winter, at least temporarily. Temperatures are expected to reach the low- to mid-40s today and through the weekend. However, rain, freezing rain and snow are possible come Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
