Tornado damage to the Marshall County Courthouse forced several county offices to move their operations to other buildings — despite the move, property tax processing is still under way at the Marshall County Treasurer’s Office.

“We are reviewing them (property tax statements) right now and we are in the process of verifying that all the data is the correct,” said Marshall County Treasurer Jarret Heil on Friday.

Once all the information is verified, he said the office will work with mail carriers to get property tax statements sent out to residents.

“It should be happening in the next couple weeks,” Heil said.

He said the office is on-track to get statements sent out ahead of schedule compared to recent years, despite moving offices from the courthouse to the Marshalltown Driver’s License Station to Great Western Bank, 11 N. First Ave.

“We’re actually ahead of the game from what we’ve been the last couple of years — tornado and all, we’re ahead of the game,” Heil said.
