Homecoming mini parade route updated
Marshalltown High School officials updated the Homecoming mini parade route from what was previously announced.
The mini parade will begin 5:30 p.m. Sept. 26 and will feature Homecoming King and Queen candidates on golf carts. It will start at the front of the high school, 1602 S. Second Ave, Homecoming co-coordinator Emily Hunt said. From there, the procession will turn east onto Olive Street and then north onto the frontage road lining the MHS sports complex.
The mini parade, along with the Cat’s Carnival later the evening of Sept. 26, are being held this year to replace the traditional Homecoming parade. That parade was cancelled this year due to schedule conflicts with Marshalltown Oktemberfest activities — it is set to return in the fall of 2019.
The MHS Homecoming Court will be announced Wednesday after the senior class nominates candidates. The student body will then be able to cast its votes for Homecoming King and Queen, who will be coronated 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the MHS-Community Auditorium.
This year’s Homecoming game will see the Bobcats face Sioux City West on Sept. 28. The Homecoming dance is set for 8 to 11 p.m. Sept. 29.
