WHAT: Marshalltown City Council meeting

WHERE: Council Chambers, second floor of the Carnegie Building, 10 W. State St.

AGENDA ITEM Resolution 2018-156 approving the owner-initiated demolition of a public nuisance tax sale property at 109 Helm St.

THE ISSUE Property on city’s “Dangerous and Dilapidated” list. Item is on consent agenda. However, a councilor may ask for it to be removed and discuss separately.

WHAT’S NEXT If it remains as part of consent agenda, then simple majority rules when vote taken.

AGENDA ITEM Numerous change orders for joint police and fire headquarters under construction in the 900 block of South Second Street.

THE ISSUE There is a combination of cost increases and decreases for items ranging from roofing to electrical communications to general supplies. Largest increase is $10,802. Largest decrease is $630.

WHAT’S NEXT Director of Public Works Justin Nickel will give council brief description of each. Councilors may ask for more detailed explanations.

AGENDA ITEM Proposed Request for Proposal for disposal of 22 N. Center Street (existing police station).

THE ISSUE Effort to determine what course of action city should take once building is vacant.
