EMS Week celebrated at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown

Cheeseburgers, hamburgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill greeted a large number of EMS personnel affiliated with Marshalltown Area Paramedic Services and the Marshalltown Fire Department as they celebrated EMS Week Wednesday afternoon. The 35 MAPS employees serve communities ranging from State Center to Union to the Meskwaki Nation, with ambulances averaging 190,000 miles a year, according to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown officials.

“We are grateful for the outstanding service we receive from MAPS and Marshalltown Fire who bring us patients,” UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Emergency Department Manager Sheila Brown said.

MAPS staff said they have been thrilled to have two new ambulances at their disposal courtesy of a UnityPoint Health Marshalltown Foundation campaign “Keep Them Rolling” which successfully met its goal in 2018.
