A large plume of smoke continued to rise over the northeast side of Marshalltown early Friday afternoon as emergency vehicles raced to respond.

The fire was still being fought as of about 1 p.m. Friday and no officials at the Marshalltown Fire Department were immediately available to share details about the blaze.

The flames appeared to be seen coming from a white building with a red roof in the 2000 block east of Lennox.
