Traffic stop leads to felony drug charges

Calderon-Orozco

A traffic stop by a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deputy resulted in a Marshalltown man’s arrest Monday on two counts of felony drug possession and a host of other violations, according to criminal complaints and affidavits files in Marshall County District Court.

Jorge Antonio Calderon Orozco, 24, was taken into custody after the deputy found 20.16 grams of methamphetamine in the defendant’s vehicle in the 1800 block of Sanford Avenue. The search resulted in a possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver charge, a Class B felony. Additionally, the defendant was charged with failure to affix drug stamp, a Class D felony, speeding, no insurance and no valid driver’s license.

The defendant is being held in the Marshall County County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond. At his initial appearance Tuesday, a magistrate appointed the defendant a public defender. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has placed a hold on the defendant.
