Des Moines — The 2019 Hardin County Fair Queen, Jakota Maakestad, daughter of Jim and Wendy Maakestad of Hubbard, was named Personality Plus winner during the Iowa State fair Queen contest Saturday in Des Moines. She was among 102 girls participating.

Maakestad received a $500 scholarship and a plaque from the Iowa State Fair; a $200 gift card form Jordan Creek Mall and a flower bouquet from

Boesen the Florist.

Also participating from the Times-Republican readership area were Ally Lamer, the Marshall County Fair Queen from Haverhill and Katelyn Kucera, the Tama

County Fair Queen from Traer. Karley Wilhau, the Grundy County Fair queen did not compete.
