Man charged with threatening woman with knife
Luke Dale Freland, 37, of Marshalltown was arrested by a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deputy Thursday and taken to jail on two warrants charging him with offenses stemming from an incident last month.
During an argument with a victim, Freland displayed a knife in a threatening manner which made the victim fearful of being cut, which resulted in the assault with a deadly weapon charge, according to the complaint. Additionally, Freland was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief as a result of him breaking out a vehicle window in order to confront the victim.
At Freland’s initial hearing Friday, a magistrate judge issued a no contact order against Freland. The magistrate also appointed Freland a public defender. The date of his preliminary hearing is pending.
