Toledo man faces assault charges

Dean Wesley Picotte, 28, of Toledo, was arrested Thursday on multiple charges.

He was taken to Marshall County Jail by the Marshalltown Police Department for assault causing bodily injury, harassment-first degree and consumption/intoxication-first offense, according to a police report.

The MPD was dispatched to a local residence when officers encountered Picotte and another individual. During the investigation, it was learned Picotte was wanted on a warrant.

He was immediately arrested.

The officer interviewed the victim and a witness who said Picotte hit the victim and put his hands around her neck. There were visible marks to corroborate, according to the criminal complaint.

At Picotte’s initial appearance on Thursday, a magistrate issued a no contact order against Picotte to protect the victim. The magistrate also appointed a public defender to represent Picotte He remains in jail on $3,300 cash or surety bond.

His preliminary hearing is Sept. 23.
