Wolfe Ranch holds Fall Harvest Party
A beautifully decorated ranch in a fall motif provided the backdrop for a day of fall fun and fellowship at Wolfe Ranch east of Marshalltown.
“We decided to have a party this fall to get people out to see the horses and the ranch and learn about us, while holding an event to be a fall fundraiser to help support our programs,” said Dave Smith, Wolfe Ranch manager.
Included in the Saturday event were wagon rides; rope making by area rope maker Paul Sams; a bake sale; a chili cook-off contest; pumpkin painting and a silent auction.
Silent auction items included a quilt and quilt rack; signed and numbers paintings by Cheryl Clark, B&G heating and cooling furnace check-up; Theisen’s gift certificate; Taco Johns meal tickets and much more. JBS donated pork chops and roast to be sold in meat bundles.
Smith said this was one of many things that are available for the public during the year at Wolfe Ranch.
Weekly horse riding lessons are in full swing and the next “Stronger than the Storm Camp” will be held Oct 28. A retreat “Invest in Yourself” will be held Nov. 22-23, and the ranch is available for rental for pony ride birthday parties, trail rides and overnight retreats year-round.
A popular event returns Dec. 13-14. “Christmas at the Stables” and will feature photos with Santa; the pork producer’s grilling pork burgers; a stall decorating contest; inside vendors and bake sale and possibly Clydesdale wagon rides depending on weather conditions. Times for the annual event will be 3-7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
