Supervisors approve courthouse brick work

Baedke

The Marshall County Courthouse is getting closer to completion.

Tuck pointing and brick replacement work on six gable ends on the courthouse by Ciro Delorio Masonry of Marshalltown was approved by the supervisors at its regular Tuesday meeting. Delorio submitted a bid of $16,800.

Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Lucas Baedke described the repair and replacement process to the board.

“What they will do is wait for days above freezing and then put heat on the inside of the building to try and suck that through and then put thermal blankets on the outside to hold the heat,” Baedke said.

Relative to the courthouse, Baedke told the supervisors there is still plenty of work to do, but the building is 100 percent weather-tight.

He said the roofing company will install shingles this spring. Also on the list to be repaired is limestone.

In other action the board of supervisors:

• Approved actuarial services agreement between Silverstone Group and the county through Dec. 31, 2022, for compliance with Government Accounting Standards Board Statement 75.

• Accepted Annual Manure Management Plan Update from Appelgate G & L

• Accepted Annual Manure Management Plan Update from Triple E Farm

• Approved claims as audited and authorized County Auditor and Recorder to issue payment

The next regular supervisors’ meeting is 9:05 a.m., Nov. 26 in the conference room on the second floor of Great Western Bank, 11 N. First Ave.
