Woman breaks victim’s ankle in altercation

Crisp

Ruby Monroe Crisp, 43, of Marshalltown was arrested and taken to jail Friday by local police on two charges of child endangerment and a charge of domestic abuse — second offense.

Crisp assaulted the victim causing him to break his ankle. Two minor children were present during the incident resulting in the two criminal counts of child endangerment.

Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD said officers interviewed the couple at a residence in the 200 block of West State Street and learned the couple had argued the night before.

The incident turned into a physical altercation in which the victim’s ankle was broken.

He was treated at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown and released.

Crisp had a prior conviction of domestic abuse assault in 2013 in Dallas County.

At her initial appearance, a magistrate judge issued a no contact order against Crisp to protect the victim, and ordered her held on $2,000 cash or surety bond.

She was appointed a public defender.

Her initial appearance is Jan. 21.
