Man threatens to kill Marshalltown police officer

Wilson

Robert Lee Wilson, 33, Marshalltown, was arrested Sunday by local police on a charge of first-degree harassment after he threatened to kill an officer transporting him to jail.

The threat was recorded on the officer’s body camera.

Capt. Brian Batterson of the Marshalltown Police Department said the charges stemmed from an incident at 6:45 p.m. Sunday on South Sixth Street when Wilson interfered with the officer who was out of his patrol car dealing with an unrelated matter.

As a result, Wilson was also charged with interference with official acts.

An aggravated misdemeanor is punishable by up to two years in jail and a minimum fine of $625 or a maximum fine not to exceed $6,250.

Wilson posted $3,000 cash or surety bond and was released.

His initial appearance on both charges is March 4.
