Work continues at East Nevada fire location
The Marshalltown Fire Department is working with the City of Marshalltown Public Works Department while heavy excavation equipment is used to smother remaining hot spots.
There is no uncontrolled fire, according to MFD Deputy Fire Chief Christopher Cross. Only smoldering spots remain from Thursday’s fire that are isolated and unable to develop and spread.
Marshalltown residents can expect smoke in the area for the next few days.
The fire department is monitoring the situation and will respond as appropriate to changing conditions.
