MPD issues reminder on winter storm parking

In response to the recent winter weather, the Marshalltown Police Department wants to make locals aware of the parking regulations for winter storms.

Generally, the city would declare a winter storm emergency if two or more inches of snow are in the forecast, and an on-street parking ban would be put into place on designated snow routes. If a winter storm emergency is declared, no vehicles can be parked on these routes at the risk of a $30 fine and or towing at the owner’s expense.

These snow routes are marked by red, white or blue street signs. A map of all snow routes can be found at https://www.marshalltown-ia.gov/423/Emergency-Snow-Routes.

Keeping cars off of snow routes during winter storm emergencies allows plow trucks to more effectively do their job and keep the streets clear.
