Mechdyne wins 2022 Business Excellence Award For Employee Engagement

Mechdyne Corporation, a broad-based technology solution and services provider to global clients, announced they received a National Systems Contractors Association Annual Award for excellence in programs and activities that inspire and engage teammates. NSCA, the leading not-for-profit association representing the commercial integration industry, honored Mechdyne and other businesses at NSCA’s 24th annual Business and Leadership Conference on Feb. 24.

Sue Goodman, vice president, HR and administration for Mechdyne Corporation, said, “Mechdyne works very hard to build and maintain a high profile for its teammate programs. This is our second NSCA award, having been previously recognized for excellence in talent development.”

Herself a 24-year Mechdyne teammate, Goodman said, “Many of our programs have been in place for almost 20 years, a testament to how relevant and effective they still are.”

Mechdyne has been developing and refining teammate engagement programs over its 25-year history. Each year, programs are evaluated for continuation or modification. New programs are added based on a perceived or surveyed need. Long-standing programs that encourage teammate involvement include:

• Quarterly and annual awards support the company’s mission, values and culture. Annual award winners receive an all-inclusive trip, including a guest, to Punta Cana each spring.

• A ‘Gold Card’ system whereby, at any time, a teammate can recognize another for going over and above to provide support for a project, issue or initiative.

• A Community Contribution Committee that consists of volunteers from across the organization with the members changing each year. The CCC oversees the distribution of profits to charitable causes and finds and encourages volunteer participation in community support activities.

• Mechdyne University: The company’s training and learning platform. A database of courses and team training is available for new and existing teammates to review and gain credits toward career advancement. Teammates are also encouraged to find external courses and develop internal training (for which they receive additional credit). Promotions and merit raises are tied to credits as they are earned.

• Monthly social events, annual holiday parties and annual picnics occurred across all Mechdyne offices. Public “Shout Outs” are done during these events to reinforce examples of Teammates reinforcing the company’s culture and core values.

• The ‘4-Ps’ of positive attitude, process, proactiveness and performance which each promote a healthy and productive work environment.

New initiatives this year are designed for teammate development; one of which is a company-wide “Beyond the Book” program to read a business-oriented publication then meet in small groups to discuss insights. Programs like this have also enabled Mechdyne to foster strong relationships between its U.S. and international offices.
