UnityPoint adds OB/GYN services to Multi-Specialty Clinic in Marshalltown

The Multi-Specialty Clinic at UnityPoint Health Marshalltown will be welcoming three new healthcare providers from the UnityPoint Health Grinnell region — Ian Stock, DO, Abby Flannagan, DO, and Josie Rutherford, CNM — and they will be leading an OB/GYN outreach clinic starting on Sept. 27.

According to a news release from UnityPoint Health Marshalltown, Dr. Stock, Dr. Flannagan and Rutherford will be making weekly visits to Marshalltown on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon at the Multi-Specialty Clinic located on the new hospital campus at 51 UnityPoint Way.

“We’re so pleased the team of Doctor Stock, Doctor Flannagan and Josie Rutherford will be seeing OB/GYN patients in Marshalltown,” said Brook Maher, Regional Director of Operations for UnityPoint Clinic. “We believe this fills a true need in the community, and their passion for patient-centered care in a rural setting will be a great fit for our clinic.”

Stock is an Iowa native and received his undergraduate degree from Wartburg College in Waverly. He received his medical education from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Flannagan received her undergraduate degree from Coe College and attended medical school at Des Moines University, and Rutherford has worked as an OB labor nurse while attending Frontier Nursing University for midwifery.

According to the release, with the addition of OB/GYN, three services have been added to the Multi-Specialty Clinic in three months — dermatology was added in July and a vascular surgery outreach provider joined the clinic in May.

UnityPoint Health — Marshalltown Marketing Communication Specialist Sean Hylton clarified that as it is an outreach clinic with providers on-site on Tuesdays only, these providers will not come to Marshalltown for baby deliveries. Instead, they will welcome expecting mothers to Grinnell or help facilitate birth plans with any other hospital or community. The Marshalltown ER can and has delivered babies in emergency situations.
