On Friday afternoon at about 3:30 p.m., the Albion Fire Department responded to a report of a combine fire four miles southeast of town (or about two miles northwest of Marshalltown) in a field owned by Ballard Farms. State Center Fire, Liscomb Fire and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office also provided assistance on the scene. The fire spread to the cornfield, but it was quickly contained. No injuries were reported, but the combine was a total loss.
