One woman quilt show at Senior Citizens Center

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

The one-woman quilt show featuring quilts created by gifted local textile artist Margaret Vannatta was held on Saturday at the Senior Citizens Center. Marshalltown residents were treated to 35 stunning quilts created over the past 35 years. The artist’s quilts range in style from vintage “Grandma’s Flower Garden ” to contemporary geometric patterns in bold colors and all styles in between. Many of her designs are created exclusively in batik fabrics. All are stunning in their beauty. Her eye for color and pattern is exceptional.

Margaret is a longtime resident of Marshalltown and began quilting shortly before retiring. Many of her creations have been gifted to family and friends. She has donated several to the nonprofit, Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center for sale in their Craft Boutique in support of their work. She is a valued member of the Center’s Sew and Sews group, and always willing to share her knowledge.
