Marco Antonio Tapia, 27, of Marshalltown was arrested Thursday and charged with third-degree sexual abuse.

A sexual abuse case was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department on Aug. 6, 2023 involving an adult victim. Tapia was taken to the Marshall County Jail and remains in custody.

Third-degree sexual abuse is a class C felony which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $13,660. The charge against Tapia is an accusation and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
