Marshalltown Compost Facility to close for the season Dec. 8
The city of Marshalltown’s Compost Facility will close for the season at 4 p.m. Dec. 8.
“Residents should plan to finish landscaping work and drop off tree and yard debris from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 8,” said Marshalltown public works director Heather Thomas in a press release.
Prior to Sunday, residents can drop off yard debris from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tree root balls and stumps are not accepted. Debris in plastic disposable bags is not accepted.
There is a charge for all materials going into and out of the facility, according to the city’s website. However, when available, cut-your-own firewood (at your own risk) and wood chips are available at no cost, according to the city’s website.
The facility will re-open in the spring of 2025. For more information, contact 641-754-5734 or visit www.marshalltown-ia.gov.
