Arts + Culture Alliance hosts first ever songwriter showcase

The Arts + Culture Alliance (ACA) is thrilled to present its first-ever Songwriter’s Showcase, a unique evening of original music and powerful storytelling featuring four talented local musicians: Austin Chadderdon, Robert Maharry, Aaron Buzbee, and Becci Fleming.

As artist Austin Chadderdon shared, “For the past decade I’ve gigged in bars where I play other people’s songs, and I’ve got no complaints! It’s fun to be part of the crowd’s night out. This opportunity reminded me that since the day I picked up a guitar as a kid that I’ve always been a songwriter. I’m looking forward to learning something new about Robert, Becci and Buz through their music–and maybe even something new about myself.”

This special event will take place on Wednesday, July 30 from 6:30-8:00 PM at ACA’s new home, located at 126 W. Main St. in downtown Marshalltown.

Each artist will share original songs paired with the personal stories that inspired them — offering audiences a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the heart and craft of songwriting. From moving experiences to unexpected insights, every song promises to connect in a meaningful way.

“Storytelling is at the heart of community — it’s how we relate, reflect, and remember,” said Shannon Johnson, Marketing + Program Coordinator at the Arts + Culture Alliance. “Local musicians have asked for more intimate spaces to share their original work, and we see our space as an incubator for those ideas — a place where creativity can take root and grow. This showcase is a response to that need, and a celebration of the voices that make Marshalltown so special.”

Whether you’re a music lover, a storyteller, or simply curious about the creative process, the Songwriter’s Showcase is an evening you won’t want to miss. This event is free and open to the public. Come for the tunes. Stay for the tales. Leave with a deeper connection to the voices shaping our community.
