Frosted Bliss Bakery coming to downtown Toledo

TOLEDO – The floors are partially only done, the paint is still wet, tools lay about, and there’s cookies galore. Crudely written across the glass window you pass is the store name, Frosted Bliss. It’s still bare bones, it’s still a work in progress, but it has cookies. This is Toledo’s newest bakery.
Owner Angie Turbett is a trained professional, but life got in between her and her passion for baking for a while.
“I went to school for culinary arts,” said Turbett. “I got away from that for a really long time, and then when my kids were old enough I started baking again.”
What started as an at home endeavor, baking per order and for local farmers markets and festivals, is now turning into a full time career for the local baker.
Turbett started talking to landlord Karen Musgrave in January, beginning the process of her sweet takeover of what was once Bumblebees Pizza.
“Well, we’re painting. They’re doing new ceiling tiles. We’ve got new floors going in. We replaced the bathroom. We’re going to build a wall, we’ve got to supply all the equipment, so there’s a lot left to do,” Turbett mentioned, gesturing to each area of the shop.
While the shop is far from complete, Frosted Bliss is still taking orders through their Facebook page as things continue to take shape. Occasionally, cookies will be for sale out of the store during the process of renovation, a sneak peak and sweet treat all at once. Turbett aims to open fully in August, barring any delays in the creation of her cookie studio of sorts.
So, if you are walking down Broadway one day soon, and you smell something wonderful coming from a nearby doorway, that’s Angie Turbett whipping up a new batch of something magical and tasty. Go in and grab a snickerdoodle, or a chocolate chip, or a sugar cookie, or one of each, everything is good at Frosted Bliss.
