109th Meskwaki Powwow officially underway

Ellasyn White, the 2025 Meskwaki Powwow Princess, and Willow Tewawina lead the Swan Dance during the annual Meskwaki Powwow at the casino. The powwow began Thursday and will end on Sunday.

MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT — The 109th Meskwaki Annual Powwow began on Thursday at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel west of Tama. Due to the excess amount of rain the area has received and the flooding of the Iowa River, the powwow had to be relocated to the casino Outdoor Arena. The event will continue with grand entries at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. every day through Sunday.
